Guitar lessons in Kings Langley for all ages and abilities. DBS checked, 5-star rated

Hey! I’m Charlie, a 37-year-old professional guitarist and guitar teacher from Kings Langley/Cassiobury, Hertfordshire. I first picked up a guitar and started playing at the age of 5, and my love for playing, performing and music in general has grown into a passion each day since. Music isn’t just my job — it genuinely doesn’t feel like work to me. I write, gig, jam, explore new sounds and styles constantly, and I bring that same energy and curiosity into every lesson.
I started teaching because I played guitar in my Church Band at the time and, at the age of 16, the parents of two boys from church approached me and asked if I would teach their sons guitar — and I haven’t looked back since. I was taught from the age of 11 by a world‑renowned session musician as my guitar teacher (who played globally with the likes of Tom Jones and Ringo Starr), who taught me everything there is to know about guitar — from intensive music theory and rhythm, to jazz harmony, improvisation, technical development and performance. He is still my ongoing guitar teacher and a good friend to this day, and that grounding in musical depth and discipline still shapes the way I teach now.

As a professional guitarist, I’m signed to the rosters of multiple musician agencies and have performed and gigged in several bands over the years (rock, acoustic, punk, metal and more), playing to audiences of over 40,000 people, as well as at many weddings, events, pubs and luxury venues across London and the UK. I play both acoustic and electric guitar and continue to write, compose and perform original music, always expanding my knowledge and musical vocabulary.
With over 20 years’ experience in teaching, I’ve taught all ages and abilities (4+) — from complete beginners who’ve never touched a guitar before, right through to intermediate and advanced players. My teaching covers a wide range of styles including rock, blues, metal, folk, country, pop and jazz. For more experienced students, I focus on improvisation, composing, technique, music theory, rhythm, sheet music reading and developing strong musical aptitude. I also teach and support graded pathways such as ABRSM and Trinity College, where that’s something a student wants to work towards.

My approach is friendly, relaxed and easy‑going. I’m patient, kind, and always work at the pace of the individual. I like to create a clear musical roadmap that suits your goals, your learning style and your personality — not a one‑size‑fits‑all syllabus. I believe it’s really important that pupils are learning music they genuinely love, so we always strike a balance between solid foundations and playing songs by your favourite artists, polishing pieces for performances, or preparing for school plays, gigs, weddings or exams.
During lessons, we’ll cover a range of genres and techniques tailored specifically to you. I’m also very hands‑on outside of lessons — happy to help with guitar and gear advice, chord charts, song suggestions, theory questions or performance prep via WhatsApp or phone whenever you need. With all of my pupils, I’ll happily check their guitar to make sure it’s suitable for learning on, and I can advise on what to buy for yourself or your child based on age, ability and musical interests.
I’m a naturally talkative, friendly person and I always want people to feel comfortable and at ease. Lessons are never meant to feel formal or clinical — the aim is to enjoy the process and bring out the best in you.
My home studio is based in Kings Langley and is available six days a week. I also teach online via Zoom for those who prefer remote lessons or need flexibility. Above all, my goal is simple: to help you enjoy music, grow in confidence, and feel supported along the way — whether that’s learning your very first chord or refining your playing at a high level.
